The Early Head Start program is a 12 month program that provides services to families with children ages birth to three and to pregnant women who meet eligibility requirements. The program focuses on building the parent/child relationship and providing support to help all members of the family fully realize their goals. Children and parents participate together in individualized learning experiences at home and in activities at the center.

Niobrara, Platte, and Weston Counties

Head Start is a comprehensive preschool program for families with children ages 3 to 5 that meet eligibility guidelines. Head Start provides program activities that address a child's cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development. It is designed to develop and nurture a sense of partnership between parents and program staff. Head Start offers various options to meet the needs of children and families, including half-day center-based programs, full-day full-year programs, and various other options which combine learning experiences in the child's home and activities at the center.

Discovery Preschool
Goshen and Platte Counties

Discovery Preschool is a 9-month program to help 3-5 year old children develop skills they will need for kindergarten. Children are involved in preschool activities five days a week, with opportunities to learn through hands-on activities, creative play, and developmentally appropriate activities to promote literacy, science and math skills. Discovery Preschool is available in Torrington and Wheatland, Wyoming.

Developmental Disabilities Program
Converse, Goshen, Niobrara, and Platte Counties

The Developmental Disabilities Program was established to identify children, ages birth through five, who have mild to severe disabilities and to provide services to these children and their families. Services include screening, evaluation, planning, and individual program development. Special Services are provided by Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Special Educators. The Developmental Disabilities Program is designed to utilize the parent as the first teacher of the child so that a child’s physical, intellectual, and emotional development is encouraged.
